T is for Tut - King Tut Plus the Hodgepodge

#AtoZChallenge 2025 letter T

To keep my sanity, I'm combining my T is for Tut - King Tut, that is . . .plus this week's hodgepodge. I'll try to keep both of the posts to a minimum so you won't be bored or so I won't bore myself :-)

Sometimes I quote information from other sites when writing my posts. I feel really weird straight up quoting from The Smithsonian Magazine, but if you have time . . .check out this article.

The sad thing is that you cannot take pictures of the King Tutankhamun exhibit. Photos were prohibited. I think it would have been amazing to have been Howard Carter back in 1922 when he found the tomb. As I was looking for photos, I went down the rabbit hole of research.

If you are ever in Egypt, go see King Tut and . . .

use your imagination to pretend you were there on the day the tomb was discovered and you were one of the first ones to see this:

On to the hodgepodge

1. The Hodgepodge lands on National Picnic Day...will you celebrate? Do you enjoy picnics? Dining out of doors picnic or otherwise? What are three or four things I'd find in your picnic basket? I will not be participating in a picnic on National Picnic Day. Sometimes a picnic can be fun but sometimes the flies and other bugs or the heat make a picnic not so fun. If I did go on a picnic, I would have watermelon, cheese cubes, crackers, and turkey roll ups in my basket. I'm literally making this up as I type!!

2.  A time recently where you felt 'antsy'? I'm a little antsy that I haven't found the correct clothes for this wedding we will be attending in May.

3. As the saying goes...'when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.'  Do you like lemonade? When did you recently need to make lemonade out of lemons, figuratively speaking? Sometimes I like an ice cold glass of lemonade. If I'm in Auburn, I definitely want some lemonade from Toomer's Drugstore! Over the last year, we've made a lot of "lemonade" out of lemons.

4. Recently five 'celebrities' made a brief (ll minute) foray into space aboard Jeff Bezos Blue Origin rocket. Did you hear about this? Your thoughts? If money were no object is this something you'd like to do someday? I had not heard about this voyage so, of course, I had to google it. It does sound a tad extravagant, but I guess money is not object to the passengers on that voyage. I don't know if I would be interested or not. I would have to think about it.

5. Favorite thing about the 'space' you're sitting in right now? I love our home. I'm sitting at the island in our kitchen. Since the fire and re-build, I try not to take our home for granted. Our kitchen is literally in the middle of the house and I like to think of it as the heart of our home.

6. Insert your own random thought here. We are nearing the end of the A to Z challenge - U, V, W, X, Y, and Z are the only letters I still have to write! Also, I was able to have lunch with our oldest granddaughter on Tuesday. I'm still smiling!

  1. I find everything about King Tutankhamun fascinating.
I love a picnic as long as the bugs stay away!
I hope you find the right outfit for the wedding.

  2. I love all the Egyptian artifacts and history. We have a wedding in June and I ordered one dress but sent it back. Waiting on dress two to arrive hopefully today and hopefully a win. I tried a few things on in person recently but nothing was quite right. Have a great day!

  4. I like that your kitchen is in the middle of your home, the heart of the home. Well you have a great theme for T...Tut! I hope you find something for the wedding soon and that you will feel great in it!

  5. Your granddaughter is so cute!! Lunch with the grands is always wonderful. King Tut is so interesting and I enjoy learning about the archeology around finding his tomb and all that followed. I have enjoyed your A-Z and look forward to these last few days!

  7. I just found your blog as I thought I should randomly pick a name from the list. I enjoyed it so much. In my blog I write about Will visiting the pyramids in 1967. He told me later I should mention he went into the museum with lots of gold and treasures. He could have taken photos back then but only took outdoor shots. Picnics - we are planning one on Mother’s Day with my daughter and grandchildren. We are just hoping for fine weather. I’m thinking fresh bread rolls, tabouli, cheese, homosexual, maybe barbecued sausages or cold meat or chicken.

  10. "I love our home." I think that is wonderful and such a special statement! Isn't it wonderful to love the place you retreat to every evening? And just want to be in:) Love it.

  11. I’m not much into Egyptology but can imagine the buzz that would have come from finding King Tut’s tomb.

You had a fire?! That must have been scary.

    1. Yes, our home was struck by lightning in July of 2022. I wrote about it here https://lisa-musingsofamiddle-agedmom.blogspot.com/2022/07/lightning-fire-sickness-and-more-oh-my.html -- and here is a "house tour" once we rebuilt and moved back in. We were out for a year and 10 days. https://lisa-musingsofamiddle-agedmom.blogspot.com/2024/04/after-fire-house-tour.html
