P is for Parthenon
I remember reading about the Parthenon when I was in Elementary school - maybe the 5th grade? Back then, I would never have believed in a million years that ONE day, I might actually visit the Parthenon. I always loved to read because I could read about all of these far away places, but I truly never dreamed that one day I would go there.
P is also for patience which is much needed when traveling. We always laugh that we hurry up and wait. Hurry up and wait some more. We hurry to arrive at the airport three hours prior to our international flight. We hurry to whatever sights we intend to see and then we often wait in lines for our turn. On one of our trips to Israel, we were in a very long line at the Church of the Nativity. People from other countries kept breaking in line and our tour guide told us to get shoulder to shoulder across the top step (we were descending) so that others couldn't break line.
I had my patience tested . . .
I'm negative!
Actually . . . 39 years ago I prayed for patience. The next month I found out I was pregnant with twins. I have so much more patience now. My husband is far more impatient!!
So . . .do you remember studying about the Parthenon? Have you ever been to see the one in Greece? Did you know that there is a Parthenon in Nashville, TN? You can check it out here.
Are you a patient person? or not?
I've never seen either Parthenon. I remember studying Greece but it never reached out to me. I am sometimes patient, except when I need to eat.
ReplyDeleteWhen you need to eat, do you become hangry?
DeleteGreat photos and I am enjoying seeing the world through your A-Z this year!! I confess that I am often times very short on patience. I work on it daily! Happy Easter!!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I never thought I’d be blessed to travel overseas and see so many wonderful places, including seeing the Parthenon twice, 40 years apart. Hurry up and wait is a challenge for those of us who test negative for patience.
