Q is for Quiet
Shhh! It is finally quiet!!
One time when we were traveling home from Israel and we had been traveling for hours and hours and more hours, we were in the Chicago airport. A blizzard (snow storm) was coming and our flights kept getting delayed and we kept having to change gates because they were literally trying to get as many people out of the airport and on their way before the storm hit. We were all so exhausted.
We finally boarded a smaller plane - one with a couple of seats on one side and one seat on the other side of the aisle.
Our group filled up the majority of the plane - maybe the whole plane.
We started down the runway for take-off and within
minutes, every single person on our flight was asleep. We couldn't stay awake a single minute more. Besides the noise of the engines, the plane was totally quiet!!
On our most recent trip, we actually chartered a bus which took us to the Atlanta airport because it is easier to get better flights out of Atlanta. Once again, we had been traveling many many hours when we landed in Atlanta. We went outside and our bus and driver were waiting for us. We loaded up our luggage and climbed aboard and within minutes everyone (but me!) was asleep . . .and it was so quiet. Then I fell asleep but all of a sudden I felt a blast of cold air. I was sitting up front and the driver had turned the air conditioner on . . .which made me realize that all of that quiet was making him sleepy, too! I stayed awake the rest of the way home . . .and it was quiet.
I feel like Q was a stretch for April A to Z especially since I'm writing about travel. I will say that I am grateful for quiet every once in a while! How about you?
I did think that I could write about Q is for Quest -- I think Quest would fit in with my travel theme . . .but Q is for Quiet works!
Quiet. Yes. A good word for this Saturday as we await our Lord's resurrection tomorrow! xo
ReplyDeleteGreat tie-in for Q. After one long-haul flight I bought some noise-cancelling headsets…such blissful quiet.
ReplyDeleteI also said quiet!
