April Showers Brings . . .a New Hodgepodge!

1. No foolin'! April is here. What's one fun thing on your April calendar? We will host our neighborhood supper club group in a week or so! Easter, though it is a lot of work, is coming!

2. It's often said, 'A fool and his money are soon parted'...what's the last thing you wasted money on? Great question! Not long before Harvey died, I bought a little hand held vacuum cleaner. I did use it a few times but it is in one of the upstairs bathroom cabinets. I don't know if I wasted the money. . . I just don't use it often.

3.  April 2nd is National DIY day. Are you a do-it yourself kind of person or maybe you're married to one? If so, what's the last thing you DIY-ed. If you're not a DIY-er what's the most recent job you had to hire someone to complete? Our daughter and son-in-law are doing a MAJOR DIY on a house they have purchased. Mark is very handy - especially with plumbing. He is one of the few CFO's I've ever met who could also fix plumbing! He worked as a plumber's assistant in the summers when he was in college. I can do a little DIY.

4. Do you eat lamb? If so do you have a favorite dish that calls for lamb? My mother-in-law used to roast a leg of lamb and it was so delicious.

5. Do you fit a stereotype in some way? Explain. I am a middle-aged (actually maybe I'm an old) white woman. I've noticed that the older I get, the more invisible I become in random public settings.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I just looked up "old white lady memes." I'm not that old! haha!

I'm participating in the April A to Z challenge - and I would love for you to visit some this month!!

  1. I'm a middle aged white woman too—I'll turn 50 in December! But I refuse to just blend in. I recently had a bit of a makeover and I ADORE all things quirky and whimsy lol! I'm also vegan so I don't eat lamb...I never liked it before either.
I'm useless at DIY, but my husband is an absolute WHIZZ so he just does it all lol.
The last thing I wasted my money on was having my nails done, only to go and chip them all a few days later!

  2. Same regarding hubbies and plumbing- mine is a very busy lawyer with a bustling law practice... who has wonderfully practical plumbing skills. His grandpa was a plumber and taught my husband a decent bit about plumbing. Enjoyed your answers!

  5. We never really put much effort into Easter. My kids always liked to find eggs but now that they're older, we don't do it. I'll probably still do small baskets because I know they like to be surprised.

  6. I will attend church on Easter Sunday (as I go every Sunday) but so far am not sure about hosting Easter dinner. I enjoyed your answers and I am an old white woman too, and praise God for each day!

  7. I was at a playground with my grandson the other day and a little girl there asked her mom if I was the grandmother. I guess I don't look as young as I thought lol. My mother said becoming invisible and being discounted was the hardest part of growing older. I get it. I'm following your A-Z!

  8. Easter will be full for us as I'm in charge of the Continental breakfast at church on that day. Your supper club sounds like loads of fun. Enjoy. Plumbing expertise is so valuable!! Yep...more and more invisible. :)

  9. I never thought about being 'invisible' in certain settings, but you're sure right. In a way, that's a relief - to merely sit and observe. Now I need to look up old white women memes.

  10. I’m 71 years old, and I haven’t felt like I’ve become invisible yet. I think it’s probably because I’m an introvert, and to me, that’s not such a bad thing. Haha!
I'm not doing A-Z this year. I seem to do it every other year.

  11. Roast lamb is my favourite especially with lots of mint sauce. I don't think a lot of people eat it nowadays.
Good luck to your daughter and her husband with the reno it sounds like fun and lots of hard work.
