Weekend in Review

Be forewarned- LOTS of photos.

After work on Thursday, I headed to the nail salon for a pedicure. Oh my goodness, I needed that pedicure!

Friday morning I headed to Jefferson State Community College to pick up my four tickets to graduation. My sister will be here from Texas so she and Mark will take two of the tickets and I think our close friends, Guy and Phella, will use the other two.

I also had to swing by Publix to pick up a few things including fresh flowers.

Saturday morning found me at my WW meeting. I've lost weight four weeks in a row. Yay! We also heard that WW is filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Supposedly, It won't affect our meetings.

I came home and put the finishing touches on our house and took a shower and got dressed.

We were one of the hosts for our neighborhood supper club. We had a great group of folks. I made Poppyseed Chicken and Rice and rolls. Just FYI, my rice was a little crunchy but everyone ate it anyway and even had seconds. Laura Lea brought a great cold asparagus with a yogurt dill sauce. Tracy brought a green salad with strawberries and pecans. It was delicious! The appetizer was a dip served with ritz crackers. It had artichokes and cream cheese. It, too,was yummy. Sherri brought a carrot cake from Edgar's. We had great conversation.

Oh - I forgot something important. Mark's pick up truck decided to not play well with others. At some point we dropped it off at the dealership. Having only one car meant that Mark had to get up early on Sunday morning because I leave for work at 6:45. He had to go with me! I worked while Mark went to worship. Our worship services are all amazing, but Palm Sunday is exceptional. The service starts with Palm Sunday including children waving palm fronds and ends with a giant cross. Seeing that cross dropped down into that base takes my breath away every single time. I taught our Sunday School class - last session of our Lenten series, AtOne by Wil Cantrell.

The children went up for children's moment and our children's pastor talked to them and then they all received a palm branch. They then processed down the aisle waving those palm branches.

The scripture was read from the middle of the sanctuary.
This signifies the word of God in our midst.

The cross is brought down the long aisle while the choir sings and the orchestra plays a beautiful rendition of When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.

We ran by the house and changed clothes and then headed to Mark's sister's house for family lunch. She made a beautiful and tasty chicken pie.

Mark went to play with our oldest granddaughter and I came home and started laundry and practiced my speech.

We had a very busy, but fun, weekend. How about you?

  1. I was busy with a special anniversary gathering for friends. Photos in my Monday blog. You were busier than me, however! Wow! I do love all of your photos! The children in my church carried the palm fronds into the church and put them on the altar. It is always so sweet to see them so serious with their important task and the lessons learned. Wishing you a blessed Holy Week. Christ is Risen!

  3. Sounds like a bustling weekend for sure. Love your Easter decorations and table. The napkin bunny is adorable. And the vase with the fresh flowers encircled with carrots!! Genius. I would like to try to replicate that for our holiday table. Super duper cute.
I'm sorry for your husband's car troubles. Never fun and never cheap. Hope it is a quick fix if not cheap.
Love the chicken pot pie. Like edible art!! I haven't made a homemade chicken pot pie in awhile. I just love them. Need to put that back in the rotation.
