On March 16, we hosted one of our neighborhood supper clubs. There were supposed to be 10 of us, but one couple was unable to come due to illness of a parent. The groups are "shuffled" every month so the hope is that we get to meet lots of neighbors over the course of the year. Our year runs from September through April. In the fall, the gatherings are on Sunday night due to SEC football games. In January, they all roll to Saturday night. In May, we have a gathering at the Townhall and everyone brings a dish to share. For the momthly gatherings, the host/hostess get to provide the main course and the host/hostess emails their group and suggests what is needed for an appetizer, a dessert, a side, and a salad.
Since we had granddaughter #1's birthday party at noon that day, and we had both taken turns at the hospital with our daughter that week, and we had our long-time supper club (not at our house!) on Friday night, I decided to go with simple. We bought a Honeybaked Ham and a Honeybaked Smoked Turkey Breast and I made a big platter of meat. I also thawed a loaf of frozen bread dough and baked it.
We used our new bar. We didn't want to mess up the new Alabama marble so we used a sheet of glass and a sheet of plexiglass for the wine bottles.
I had out a few Easter decorations.
We actually have nice white cushions from Pottery Barn for our chairs but we have some neighborhood cats run loose at night and they have made a mess on the old cushions. The cushions cost too much to put out the new ones for the neighborhood cats to ruin. We ran over to At Home and found some really cute ones. Mark has actually been covering them up at night. He picked up a couple of ferns at Home Depot. I love our porches.
The front downstairs porch is "L" shaped so we have chairs and the glider on the section across the front of the house and we have a teak table on the side of the "L." We picked up the two new solar lanterns while we were in At Home.
Here are a few pics of our house and Easter decorations. I put chocolate Easter eggs in the lantern around the candle and I put the cute bunny in the middle.
I made a really cute centerpiece with jelly beans, two vases, and tulips.
The photo below is actually from our Friday night supper club gathering. The same young adult who brought us the candy from Japan, also brought us a box of cookies - strawberry and macha flavored. I signed up for dessert and made a couple of pecan pies and we took the cookies from Japan.
Here is a better picture of the centerpiece. Did you know that Vodka is Viagra for tulips? Seriously! Have I already told y'all that fun fact to know and tell?
We've been a tad busy lately :-)
