Sunday Stealing

Thanks so much to Bev Sykes of the blog "Funny the World.” She finds the questions for us each week and “steals” them and we answer them!

Stolen from League of Extraordinary Pen Pals

1.      Do you buy things when you want them or wait for sales? It depends. My husband says that I say, “I like it. I want to buy it.” That should answer the question quite well. I always feel as if I lucked out if I find something I like and want to buy it and it is ON SALE. That is always a win.

Do you think time moves slowly or quickly? My daddy used to say that the older he got, the faster the time went. I thought that was silly. I no longer think it is silly! I sometimes feel like time is moving at warp speed.

How often do you spend time alone? My husband loves to go to his family farm and when he is at the farm, I’m alone. He also has been staying with his sweet momma at least once a week and I’m home alone on that night. It worked out well this past week. I got a lot of studying done for my class.

He was at the farm pulling the SD cards
from the game cameras - I love to watch
these beautiful animals! I was studying . . .
and maybe texted a friend.
Mr. Coyote was also caught on camera.

What’s something that has changed in the last month? The days are longer – not much but a minute or so each day since December 21. We’ve had some incredible sunsets and sunrises at our house and every time I see one, I remind myself that the light ALWAYS wins. I know I’ve said this before so y’all may be rolling your eyes at me BUT I have realized this year, even more than other years, I need daylight – I need sunshine. I thrive in the light. I wither in the dark.

This was 1.14 - I drove around the block
so I could take the photo and a minute
later it was cloudy and the sun
never came out again. So often
in life we miss the chance and it is
gone but not this time!

This was one morning this past week from
our front porch.

I literally was on a hunt for this sunset. The
sky looked like it was on fire. There is a kid's
baseball field near our house - I literally
pulled in their parking lot and jumped out
and snapped!

This was taken right before the one above.
This picture doesn't do it justice. This
sunset looked like fire in the sky.

What’s the best part of your job, profession? I love the team that I am privileged to work beside every day. Most days, I actually LOVE to go to work. We are encouraged to be creative thinkers. We get to do work that matters.

How many pens do you have? Really? I have no idea but between home and work, I have a lot. I reorganized kitchen drawers last month and have a ton of markers, pens, and pencils. I have a small flowerpot at work that is stuffed with markers, pens, and pencils. I really enjoy using good pens. My favorite is Uniball Vision Elite.

What are your healthiest habits? I exercise every day and I try hard to eat healthy foods every day. I need to drink more water but diet pepsi tastes so much better.

Do you have a favorite postage stamp? I bought some Day of the Dead stamps this year and they were really cool.

Who did you talk to the most this week? I don’t know if I talked to one person more than others, but I talk to my husband every day. I talk to my boss every day. I talk to my daughter almost every day. I talk to one of my sisters almost every day. I’m an equal opportunity talker.

What’s on your bedside table? A lamp and 4 pictures in frames. When I sleep at night, my reading glasses are usually on the bedside table, too. That’s it – no clutter.

How often do you try something new? Probably not often enough. I try to be open to new things.

What are some of your grocery list staples? Diet pepsi, coffee pods, green beans, ritz peanut butter crackers . . . by staples . . .do you mean shelf stable or the things I buy almost every week? I actually just looked up grocery staples because as I’m typing I realize that the majority of what I buy is fresh – lean protein, fresh veggies, fresh fruit, half and half (for my husband’s coffee pods). According to one “legal” definition of staples, it does include fresh products. I’m going to have to think about why we need a “legal” definition of grocery staples.

Do you have a favorite poet? I do not unless we count Dr. Seuss.

What interesting fact do you know? I’ve always been fascinated by twins (I’m getting to the fact – hang on!). I had twin aunts, but I only knew one of them. The other died as a child long before I was born. I was the youngest grandchild on my daddy’s side, and I always said that I would be the one to have twins – just joking around. In high school, two of my best friends were identical twins and those twins (Kaye and Faye) and I were roommates when I met my husband . . .who is an identical twin. We married and two years later . . .we had fraternal twins – boy and girl. So where is the fact – did you know that twin births continue to increase? There are several reasons – women are waiting until later to have children . . .and twins occur more often as a woman ages. Also, there are more women who see fertility doctors and drugs, IVF, etc. increases the odds of having twins.

Do you fold laundry right away or do it later? From where I’m sitting, I can see the dryer and there is a load of clothes just sitting there waiting to be folded! My answer would be: it depends on whether or not there is a load in the washer waiting to go into the dryer! If so, I fold immediately. If not, they might sit there until I need the actual clothes, or I need the dryer. I shouldn’t tell that about myself!

  1. I need daylight too. It makes me so much happier.
Oh yes, Dr. Seuss is a great poet.
The book you recommended...I have not read it. Thank-you for that! I am going to put it on my list to read. Loved your answers! Have a great day! ♥

  2. What gorgeous captures of your sunsets! I agree, co-workers can make or break one's workplace experience. Been there/done that. Thankfully, memories of the good times far outweigh the bad.
