Day 1 and part of Day 2 - Fall Break Get-a-way

Both of our granddaughters had at least one additional day off for the weekend and our daughter's school actually was out for fall break so we booked a condo
and headed to the beach.
Mark and I went a day early.
It was rainy when we arrived but it was still the beach.
A rainy day at the beach is better than a . . . .

We've been staying at the same place since our kids were in the 5th or 6th grade. The condos are beginning to show some wear and tear. I know many of them were redone after Hurrican Ivan but it is time again :-). The main reason we stay here is for the private pier on the Gulf of Mexico.

Mark was a happy camper.

It was raining on Friday morning but we were still up and outside. One of the fisherman threw
a batefish to Fred and caught it mid-air. You can see his throat and mouth here.

He then proceeded to turn his neck straight up so that the fish would go down!!

We saw lots of HUGE sharks. If people on the beach only knew what was a short distance away . . .cue the theme from Jaws.

After lunch on Friday, the skies started to clear and I headed to the pool while Mark fished.

Our son and his family arrived around 4:00 and granddaughter #1 was able to get some good swim time in before dinner. She is just like her daddy and her pops -- they can all swim so well.

Friday turned into a gorgeous day.

We all headed back out to the pier.

Our daughter and her family texted and said they would arrive by 7:00 so we all changed clothes and headed toward a restaurant where we met for a very late dinner. I was amazed at how well both girls did since we were eating so late. While we waited on our table, we walked around and looked into some of the shops. This cute shop sold things for cats and dogs and they had a cute Halloween blow up outside so we grabbed a photo opp!
