Pinky Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's something that reminds you of your grandmother? Tell us why.
When I was a kid, my paternal granny loved to watch a "story" (soap opera) every afternoon. If we were there, we had to be quiet during her story! Anytime I see an article about a soap opera, I think of her. I think her "story" was As the World Turns. I have a child size quilt made by my Granny George (maternal). Anytime I see an animal bobble head, I think of her. One time when I was maybe six years old, she mailed a dachshund bobble head to me!

2. Is your life currently more 'moonlight and roses' or a little more 'every rose has it's thorn'? Elaborate.

We are empty nesters so as we are driving around the neighborhood right at dusk, life seems to be moonlight and roses. Just like most of you, life is sometimes full of thorns, too.

3. June 23rd is National Pink Day...favorite thing you own in any shade of pink? I have a pink dress that I really love! I wish I had realized that today was pink day!

This is me in that pink dress I love -
my eyes are almost closed -
I had a big smile under the mask

Favorite thing found in nature in any shade of pink? I love both peonies and roses and cute bunny noses. The nose is pink, right? Our oldest granddaughter LOVES pink, too!

Your favorite pink food or beverage? a drink with an umbrella in it!

Your favorite shade of pink? The shade of my dress above is my favorite!

4. Last thing that had you 'tickled pink'? I was "tickled pink" when I remembered that bobble head weiner dog and actually had to google it and see if I could find any that looked like the one I remember. I didn't.

5. What are two or three words that describe your style.

Comfortable, easy, colorful

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I'm behind on blogging. We went to the beach for a week with our kids and grandkids and I just can't get caught up! I would love to do a post about our beach trip.

Also, we have been doing a few fun things - we were gifted several restaurant gift cards right before Covid hit and we used the first one Saturday night. I need to write about that, too!

  1. Stories with Grandma... YES! She watched Young and the Restless, ATWT, and Guiding Light. ATWT was my fave, along with All My Children. Haven't watched any since they ended. :(

  2. You just reminded me of my maternal grandmother. She lived with us when I was really little and I remember watching As the World Turns with her every afternoon. My paternal grandfather had a dachshund bobble head in the back window of his car too! Thanks for reminded me of those things!

I loved reading your answers and really like the shade of your pink dress. So glad you got away for a week with the kids and grands, that's awesome! :)

  4. I get it about being behind on blogging and everything else because of travel and company. It's worth it, though.
Loved those stories about your grandmas.

  5. Sounds like a fun trip with your family!

Great memories about your grandmothers! By the time I was born there was only my mom's mom alive of all the grandparents and she spoke Polish and we didn't so there wasn't too much interaction between her and us. We moved when I was seven years old 3000 miles away from her. I do remember that she hated with a passion thunderstorms so when we lived in the same town which had a lot of thunderstorms and my mom would hear the rumble of thunder, she would literally drop everything and head over to my grandmother's house to "ride out the storm" with her. Lots of times we were interrupted in what we were doing so I resolved I would never be afraid of thunder or lightening and make sure my kids weren't either. Which was a good and bad thing lol. We weren't afraid of it but we perhaps were a bit more reckless with it (being out in the storm when we shouldn't have been).

Pretty pink dress! So many smiles lost behind masks!

    1. Masks are not required at this time in Alabama. They ask if you haven't been vaccinated to please wear your masks but we are fully vaccinated - hallelujah! I did go in one place of business yesterday that still required a mask and I happily put it on but just as happily ripped it off as soon as I got in the car!
