1. Do your goals and dreams energize or exhaust you?
Elaborate. Goals and dreams can do both - energize me and exhaust me! I think it depends on the day.
2. July 23rd is national lemon day. Are you a fan of this
flavor? What's a favorite dish or beverage you enjoy that calls for
lemons? I love real lemon flavor. I am not a fan of fake lemon! I have so many allergies, but I can actually tolerate the scent of lemon oil. I don't eat either of these desserts anymore, but I love a good lemon ice box pie or some lemon bars! I also love a good lemon vinaigrette (is that how you spell it?).
3. "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade"...is
this something you're pretty good at managing? Have you had to do this
recently? If so tell us about it. This answer is much like number 1! Some days I am good and some days . . .not so good at this skill! Positivity is one of my top five strengths so I like to think that I'm pretty good at managing! Just last night, our ground beef had not thawed so I couldn't make my planned dinner . . . I pivoted and made lemonade! haha! I just made something else with the frozen hamburger.
4. Something you love that is lemon yellow in color? I love the yellow in one of our guest rooms. It might be a littler brighter than lemon yellow.
5. How would you describe your attention to detail? My husband would say that I am a detail person. I think I am most of the time. I seem to be wishy washy on my answers this afternoon.
6. Insert your own random thought here. Has anyone ever seen a shower door do this before?

Look away quickly if the sight of blood makes you queasy. Y'all . . . this happened to our 7 year old granddaughter on Monday night. She was at her other grandparent's house and the shower door shattered. I have always assumed that shower doors were made of glass that would not shatter. When the grandparents couldn't stop the bleeding by applying pressure, they first called 911 and then they called her mama. The EMTs were evidently rock stars. They took her by ambulance to the ER in their town. They allowed our daughter to get on the gurney in the back of the ambulance and then they layed our granddaughter on top of her mommy. They don't have a children's hospital in their town. She required stitches in one foot, several stitches in different places on one hand, and a glue bandaid on the other hand. They arrived at the ER before 8:00 p.m. on Monday night and there were so many patients that they placed them in the hospital lobby because a 7 year old does not need to see the things happening in an ER. They didn't get home until 4:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. I am typing this on Tuesday night . . .our daughter drove from her town to our house late this afternoon and picked up her daddy and they are now at Children's Hospital in Birmingham. Our granddaughter's foot started bleeding this afternoon and Laura took our sweet girl to their pediatrician. They assessed the foot and called Children's and told them to expect our daughter and granddaughter in Birmingham in about two hours. I packed a little picnic for our granddaughter (with a few other things for her mama and pops). It has been a week . . .and it is only Tuesday.
p.s. the situation above may be why my other answers are so wishy washy today!
p.s.s They did not have to reopen the five sutures in her foot. They did an ultrasound and checked out all of the wounds on her hands and feet. Her foot is still bleeding some, but they think it will be ok. They are sleeping here at our house before driving back home later this morning. Just FYI - Children's Hospital of Alabama located in Birmingham is a top notch facility!
First... prayers for your granddaughter and family. No I have not ever seen a glass shower door do that!!!
ReplyDeleteI like your guest room.
Sending a HUG to all.
Thank you!
DeleteOh wow, I've never heard of that happening. I'm sorry for all involved as I'm sure that was really stressful. Did it shatter upon closing or was she just standing there and it suddenly broke apart. I willl add her to my prayers today.
ReplyDeleteI think it happened upon closing! She evidently asked the pediatrician at Children's Hospital a million questions haha!
DeleteWow, that's awful! And no, I have never seen a shower door do that. Shoddy workmanship? Bad product? That should definitely be shatter-proof glass.
ReplyDeleteSurely it is bad product. It is mind-boggling to me!
DeleteOh my, what a horrid ordeal for your granddaughter. I have never heard of anything like that. I think you get a big pass if you thought you sounded wishy washy. I am impressed you even blogged at all.
ReplyDeleteIt was blog . . . or pace the floor haha!
DeleteOh no! I'm so sorry that your granddaughter had to go through that! I hope she heals as quickly & easily as possible.
ReplyDeleteChildren usually heal quickly, so we are hoping for that, too! Thank you!
DeleteI love your guest room! I have never heard of a shower door shattering ~ that’s terrible. Healing vibes to your granddaughter 💕
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compliment!! Surely that shower glass was defective.
DeleteOh, Lisa, that is just horrible what happened to your dear granddaughter. I've never heard of that happening and it makes me happy not to have glass doors any longer in our bathrooms. Yikes. Glad she got to Children's Hospital with confident care. Praying for healing of body and her poor mind, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the prayers!
DeleteI think it really does depend on the day whether my goals energise or exhaust me.
ReplyDeleteYour guest room is so pretty!
Oh my goodness, your poor Granddaughter and what a scare for you all. I hope she makes a speedy recovery.
Yes - it does depend on the day for me, too. Thank you for the speedy recovery wishes!
DeleteWow!! That shattered glass is just crazy!! I wouldn't have thought that kind of glass would have been used in a shower door, for goodness sake. How scary for everyone! No wonder your other answers were "wishy washy" (your words). I hope and pray she is doing okay by now. Bless her (and all of you!)!! I'm sure her other grandparents are shattered too! xo
ReplyDeleteI truly can't imagine how the other grandparents feel. I know they were so upset.
DeleteOh Lisa, what a terrifying experience for granddaughter! We, too, had to spent hours at the ER on Monday (all okay now). I'd have guessed Mondays wouldn't be very busy, but no. Pain never takes a day off. Prayers lifting for that sweet girl's recovery ... and momma's peace of mind!
ReplyDeleteWere y'all at Baptist East ER, too? I know that a friend of mine drove herself to the ER (here in Birmingham) about two weeks ago for chest pain. She finally went back home because they didn't know when they would be able to see her! (Day one) The next day she called an ambulance thinking maybe it would give her quicker access . . .nope (day two). On day three she had a pacemaker installed. It is a miracle that nothing bad happened between day one and day three.
DeleteI'm glad y'all are ok!!
The shower door just shattered? Hmm, defective door because they are supposed to be shatterproof. How scary for a 7 year old and for all involved. I'm glad she got good medical attention and it seems to be doing better. Prayers for a quick recovery with no lasting trauma taking a shower.
ReplyDeleteI thought they were supposed to be shatterproof, too. Thank you for the prayers! She told her mama she didn't intend to take any more showers!
DeleteHow scary! I didn't know that shower doors could shatter. Praying that she gets better very soon and she's not too traumatized by that. I know I would be.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh that's the second time in a month I've heard about a glass shower door shattering like that! And both involved little children! The other involved the grandchild of a podcaster I watch. So scary. He had injuries, too, and his mama immediately went into labor with his sibling! (She was due any day but this helped her along.)
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable. That is just crazy that the shower door shattered like that. And you can tell that baby girl was cut quite a bit from the amount of blood. That angel!! I am sorry this happened and sorry that her injuries continue to need further evaluation. Praying all heals quickly and perfectly.
ReplyDeleteStill thinking about Scott and Cindy. God bless them.
You have every reason to have wishy washy answers. But I think they are spot on. Somedays I appear to have my act together and can manage little hiccups without pause. Other days, not so much!!
Oh my gosh. I hope your granddaughter is okay. How scary for the whole family. I'm just thankful it wasn't worse. Thinking of all of you.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm very late in leaving comments on blog posts, but that is crazy what happened to your granddaughter!! How scary to have to call 911 and ride in the ambulance. I hope that she is recovering well!
