1. "A daughter's a daughter all her life, but a son's a son til he takes a wife." What say you? Elaborate. I definitely think a daughter is a daughter all of her life! I think our son is still our son and we love his wife. In our case, my family doesn't live nearby so I've always done everything with Mark's family so his mother definitely didn't lose her son.
2. Something you've seen recently that was 'cuter than a June bug'? I'm a grandmother (Gran!) so of course, cuter than a June bug would be our granddaughters. Pictures below. I had an uncle whose nick name was June bug!
I know this is a repeat picture from yesterday but she is cute as a June Bug! |
3. 'You can't buy happiness, but you can buy ice cream and that's pretty much the same thing.' Agree or disagree? Last time you had a serving of happiness ice cream? Dish-cone-milkshake-sundae...which one do you choose?
I would disagree. I haven't eaten real ice cream since . . . maybe 2016. I do love to freeze bananas and add either a few blueberries or a few strawberries or a few cherries and whir them until smooth in the food processor. Now that might be a bowl of happiness!
4. What is one way/area in which you're currently 'swimming against the tide'? I feel a little that way with life right now. We had a very busy weekend. I'm facilitating a study on Tuesday nights and teaching an adult Sunday School class on Sundays plus working plus trying to be a good wife, mother, and gran . . .along with trying to gather stuff together for our big upcoming trip.
5. Three things you're looking forward to this summer? I'm really looking forward to our trip and I'm looking forward to granddaughter #2's 3rd birthday party. Her mommy asked her what kind of party she wanted and she said that she wanted a pink party . . .so a pink party it is. I know this is silly but I hope I can have some time at the neighborhood pool this year. I just need to make time for something I enjoy!
6. Insert your own random thought here. One of the countries we will be visiting is Germany but we will be staying in Austria. For those of you who are world travelers, I think I want to bring back Birkenstocks for me, our daughter, and our daughter-in-law. Are they going to add too much weight to my suitcase? Are they any cheaper there? Or will it just be cool to say, "my Birkenstocks were purchased in Germany"? My mother-in-law went to Germany back in 2000 and she brought back Birkenstocks and we wore them out. Yes, I know I could buy them locally but . . .thoughts??
I can't help with the Birkenstock question, but I love Austria : ) I hope you get to Salzburg, one of my favorites. You sound so busy and I do hope you really enjoy your travels and there is pool time for you this summer too!
ReplyDeleteWe are so excited!
DeleteI stayed in a hostel (but it was more like a B&B) just over the border in Austria...so beautiful! I definitely want to go back, especially since my maternal grandfather was born there. I'm no help with the Birkenstocks, either. I would just check the price. One thing I'm kicking myself about is not buying a Christmas Carousel when I was there & having it shipped back. I knew I'd regret it!
ReplyDeleteI think we are going to be in a family owned hotel in a village!! My mother-in-law brought one back for me back in 2000 and I think one of our kids broke it :-(
DeleteSounds like a wonderful trip and how fun to bring back Birkenstocks. Hope it works out for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteI never thought Birks were all that heavy so you might be ok.
ReplyDeleteHow the camera loves your grandgirls! I've never owned a pair of Birks, but ya. It would be cool to say you picked them up whjile in Austria. I definitely tend to attach memories to inanimate objects.
ReplyDeleteOh boy...you really do have a lot on your plate right now. How nice that you have a trip overseas coming up. I unfortunately don't know anything about birkenstocks. I suppose knowing what the dollar is worth in Germany would be good...
ReplyDeleteI love Birkies and wore mine out. I had four or five pair at one time because we had an outlet close by. Now I can't really afford them. Hope you find them while traveling!! Make time for yourself and definitely get to the pool!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog
ReplyDeletePlease read my post
ReplyDeleteI wear my Birkenstock everyday. :-) They are my favorite shoe. I purchase mine online.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy planning your trip. And I cannot wait to see photos.
I love your answer for #1. Of course our grandchildren are cuter than a June bug. That's interesting about your Uncle. Your bowl of happiness sounds yummy. Enjoy the pink party. I am guess that the Birkenstock shoes are cheaper here but I also think it would be awesome for you to bring them pairs from Germany. Tough decision.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your answers. I don't know about the birkenstocks. Sorry. Your grands are so cute.
ReplyDeleteThat grandbaby is a little doll. Share all the pictures of that cutie pie!! Glad you got home in time for hugs.
ReplyDeleteYour trip sounds fabulous. I would be inclined to buy the shoes here at home and have them. Have never worn Birkenstocks. Went to an 8 minute dating event years ago when I was single and one of the single guys I was paired with for 8 minutes owned a Birkenstock store. He pulled out a photo of himself in a woman's bikini and said he likes to cross dress and wanted to share that from the start. That was a LOOOOONG 8 minutes from that point on.
