Thursday Thoughts and Tangents

The final is over. Hallelujah! It took me over 3 1/2 hours to finish it.
I had an appointment with the ENT yesterday. I have a sinus infection so I got a steroid shot and an antibiotic shot along with a prescription for antibiotics and a steroid pack. I slept about 4 1/2 hours last night and I'm still wide awake tonight at 10:22 . . .so I decided to write, "Thursday Thoughts and Tangents."

We started a 5th Sunday Fellowship this year. Our second one was this past Sunday. It was well attended. Last time I ordered from Krispy Kreme and they really messed up the order and wouldn't respond when I asked for a partial refund. This time, I ordered Hero doughnuts - local and excellent. They delivered exactly what I ordered and even delivered a few minutes early. They called on Friday to verify my order.

I grabbed a quick photo of Mark and his buddy, Duane.

Tuesday night, our young professionals met at Moss Rock Tacos for dinner. On Tuesday nights they offer a selection of three tacos for $3 each and $2.50 Mexican beer.

Jessie loves to bake cookies and she brought patriotic cookies for everyone.

We ate outside and we had a great time. There were more of us than I caught in the photo. We laughed so much.

I took Wednesday off because my final was supposed to be live first thing . . .it wasn't available until 3:00 p.m. I had a list of other things I wanted to do plus a doctor's appointment. I headed downtown to the Jefferson County Health Department Vital Records office to get death certificates for two more family members.
When my niece was cleaning out my sister's belongings, she found some savings bonds from 1943 and 1945. I'm working on cashing those in but it has required so many documents. I turned in the requests and paid my money and waited . . .and waited. The employees were so nice. I finally had to tell the nice lady that I had a doctor's appointment and I would come back after the appointment. The deal is that I was downtown and had to head south of town for the doctor's appointment. Of course, I literally had just merged onto I65 and she called to tell me it was ready, but I didn't have time to turn around and still make it on-time.

I made it to the doctor and had a nasal endoscope where he saw a few new polyps on one side and signs of infection on the other side. (read paragraph one).
Then I hopped back into the car and headed back to the Vital Records office downtown.
It was around 3:00 in the afternoon and I had not eaten in hours and hours so I actually treated myself to an order of Milo's fries.

Cool fact - My grandpa was born in 1894 and died on the day after Christmas in 1979. He was 85 years old when he died. I knew that my mom was only 50 when she died. I didn't realize that my daddy was just 61.

When I got home, my final was finally available (pun intended). It was 10 essay questions and it took me a long time - over 3 1/2 hours. Whew!! Mark dug around in the freezer and found some poppyseed chicken and heated it up for us to eat for dinner.

Mark left for the farm this morning. He is working hard on the farmhouse.

Later in the morning, I saw movement on the screened porch. Look at that rascal -- there was a chipmunk inside the porch.

I finally had to raise the garage door and I hope he ran out. I haven't seen him since.

So what did I do today? I answered some work emails. I found an error on my paycheck and emailed my co-worker. I measured our rug on the front porch and ordered a new one. I texted and emailed with Liz, the designer, about a couple of pieces of furniture. I made our menus for next week and ordered groceries. I went to the gas station and I picked up some prescriptions for both of us. I rode my stationary bike for 30 minutes. I wrote a letter to the savings bond people which I will print next week and mail with all of the other paperwork. I even sat outside in the sun for a few minutes. I also signed up for Netflix. I watched two episodes of Breaking Bad. Why does someone always throw up? Now I've watched a bunch of episodes of Young Sheldon. Sheldon got carsick . . .why does someone always throw up? Seriously! The episode on right now is the one about the brisket recipe!!

The country club nearby had fireworks tonight - I could hear them more than see them. The shutter was too slow to catch the actual firework but it made the sky bright.

I'm going to brush my teeth and try to go to sleep tonight. If not, I guess I'll sleep eventually! The good thing about steroids is that all the other normal "hurts" don't hurt right now!!

Have any of you taken Metformin orWegovy? I've got to get the rest of this weight off.

I guess tonight's post truly was Thursday Thoughts and Tangents haha!

  1. I had never seen Young Sheldon until my granddaughter's visit. We watched it every night until 2:30 or 3 so I saw a lot of it. I was surprised I liked it, but I really did.

    1. I remember watching a few episodes on the long flight home from Istanbul last October. I think I'm going to enjoy watching straight through.
