It Is Wednesday - Guess It Is Hodgepodge Time

Our host, Joyce writes the questions and we answer . . .and visit around to others who answer! How would you answer these questions?

1. August is National Golf month...do you play? Do you enjoy following golf? Have you ever been to a professional tournament?

Neither of us play golf and watching golf on TV is so boring!! I have not been to a professional tournament but we live in an area of Robert Trent Jones courses and sometimes the tournaments (I almost said "golf games") make the local news. I know you can volunteer to work those tournaments!

2. Astronaut Jim Lovell of Apollo 13 fame passed away this past Thursday. Are you interested in outer space and what's happening today in terms of space exploration? If space travel became common in your lifetime would you go? How do you personally relate to the idea of exploring something vast and mysterious...does the idea excite you, intimidate you, or something else?

First of all, did y'all read about the meteorite (older than earth) that crashed through a home in Georgia a couple of weeks ago?? I don't know that I keep up with what is happening today in space exploration. I don't know that I would go up into space. I think I'm fairly adventurous but I'm not sure I'm up for space travel.

3. Describe your communication style in three words.

Not good enough!

4. Do you have a favorite cookbook? A favorite celebrity chef? Do you watch any cooking shows on TV?

I have a church cookbook that I love. We used to love to watch Emeril when he was new to the game. We've eaten at one of his restaurants. I remember watching Justin Wilson with our kids . . .and I just googled him and read that he wasn't even Cajun! I rarely watch cooking shows these days.

5. As a child did you have any back to school traditions? If so, did you carry on those same traditions with your own children? Do you have any back to school traditions you've started on your own?

I should have some back to school traditions since I'm back in school . . .but I don't! We always got a new lunch box - I remember a red plaid one that I loved! For our kids, we would go back to school shopping and usually get a new pair of shoes. I would always have a favorite after school snack for them. I would always pray for them to have a lunch buddy.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Since the previous question was about school . . .did I tell y'all that my advisor asked me to write three or four sentences about my experience so far at Samford and to send a headshot? I am wondering if I'm the oldest student in the college haha! I might be, but I guess they couldn't say those words. I sent my work headshot. I appear to be looking at something off to the side. Oh well - maybe it will be a tiny picture and you won't see that!

  1. I have an old Justin Wilson album I inherited from my grandfather. He loved listening to him. I remember Papa sitting in his chair working the phrase "I Gar-un-tee " into conversations. I am glad you mentioned him. I need to pull the album out and play it.

  2. It's a nice picture. Maybe you'll become famous on campus : ) The church cookbooks are some of the best. I have a couple of those too. Your golf lingo and my boat lingo are similar lol. I often say rope and hubs reminds me it's line and I've been know to use the word park when we're actually docking. Enjoy your day!

  3. That's a nice picture and how cool that the school wanted one of you! I did hear about the meteorite. That was something! Golf "games" that's funny- I sometimes forget the right terminology for sports that hold no interest to me!!

    1. Thank you!! The boy down the street never had a lunch box. He always brought his in a "lard bucket." I didn't even know what a lard bucket was!

  7. I remember watching Justin Wilson. Isn't he the one who always said onyuns (for onions)? I liked Emeril, too, and have eaten at a couple of his restaurants. Great photo!!

  8. Oh my goodness! What a lovely photo and a wonderful honor to be asked to do this. I’m sure they are showing how their coursework appeals to students of all ages! You’re an inspiration!

  9. I really like your headshot, and I doubt very seriously that you are the oldest student. If so, you are the prettiest for sure. Justin Wilson! I haven't heard his name in forever. I'm from South Louisiana and remember him well. I knew he wasn't Cajun because we always made fun of his "fake" accent. He had quite the following regardless.

  11. I did not know about that meteorite. A new lunch box was nice. I went home for lunch. That's beautiful photo. I actually enjoy golf but it depends who is playing. Sunday is the best day.
