Randomness - is that a word??

I'm going to be honest . . .I have my roots colored every few weeks - every four to five weeks. The salon has added a zero gravity massage chair and I enjoyed some time in it while the color did its magic.

They have a little machine that makes stars and northern lights across the ceiling.

I've mentioned that my hair stylist has moved about 45 minutes away. It is a lovely drive. This visit was on Friday December 20 and the sky was blue and it was a gorgeous day.

We are still in the thick of things with Mark's brother, Bill, and his wife, Rebecca and their cancer situations. Mark was staying at the hospital and I was feeling sorry for myself and for all of us and I decided to do my baking for the neighbors. The "cookie" below requires no baking -- only spreading, melting, dipping, and drizzling.
Spread peanut butter between two ritz crackers. Melt chocolate bark and dip crackers filled with peanut butter. Place on waxed paper to dry and then melt white bark and drizzle over the tops. These are always a huge hit.

I also made brown sugar brownies. One batch was normal and I sprinkled mini m&m's on top of the other batch.

Mark was at the hospital one night and back to back was at the farm. I have to be "on" all of the time at work, but sometimes when it comes to attending neighborhood functions, my inner introvert comes out. I asked our neighbors and good friends, Lu and Dave, to walk by and "pick me up" on their way to the neighbor's party. Susan's table was lovely and just FYI - there were a lot of people at the party!

On the Saturday before Christmas, I took all of those baked goodies and made plates/trays/bags for our neighbor friends. I forgot -- I also melted white bark. I placed waxed paper on the island and I made a little mound of dry roasted salted peanuts. Then you drizzle on the white bark and before the bark hardens, you place m&m's on top.

Usually we deliver via the golf cart but it was cold and so we loaded up the back seat. We delivered to quite a few neighbors.

Below is Helen and John's home with Mark standing on their porch.

Below is Theresa and Rob's home with Mark on his way up to the door.

We came home and I peeled and sliced a million carrots. I saved the peels and tops for our son's chickens!

I made copper pennies with all of those carrots and they were delicious.

Did you make any treats for your neighbors this year? If so, what did you make/take?

  1. I intended to bake some cookies, but when my sister decided to not come (because of the traffic), I only made reindeer bait. Chex mix, pretzels, and M&Ms covered in melted white chocolate, chilled, and then broken into pieces. I made two batches and gave them away to friends and neighbors. I need to try your Ritz cracker recipe! I'm all in for easy! Happy week between!! On to 2025!!
