August Hodgepodge

1. What's something on your August calendar you're looking forward to? Or dreading if that's easier to answer. We are going to eat a couple of meals with friends which is always fun. Mark has a birthday this month (I need to plan something!). We will pay our last fall tuition payment (and then we will have to pay for just one more semester!). It is almost time to get out the fall decorations! I love fall decorations.

2. August 5th is National Oyster Day...do you partake? How do you feel about pearls? I am not fond of oysters. I have eaten one raw oyster in my life just so I could say I had! Mark loves them but the last few times he has eaten them . . . he has not felt well after. On the other hand, I LOVE pearls - I have several different types of pearl earrings and several different pearl necklaces.

3. Tell us about a time when you felt like 'the world was your oyster'. I am not sure I've ever felt that way. Surely I did when I was young?? Actually . . . maybe I'm living it right now.

4. Trip Advisor lists seven islands in the US that require no passport (for US citizens). If you're answering today from outside the US you'll still need to produce yours. An-y-way, have you been to any of the seven? Let's pretend you get an all expense paid trip to one this month...which one do you choose and why?

I've never been to any of those islands! I've been to Hawaii, but not to Kauai.

5. Sylvia Plath is credited with the following- 

"August rain: the best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time."

Agree or disagree? In other words, how do you feel about this month? 

When I arise at 5:00 a.m., it is still dark outside. I much prefer the length of the days in early to mid-June. Sylvia's words are a little depressing for some reason. I guess there is truth to her statement. The kids are all gearing up for back-to-school. I want to sneak a couple of pool days in this month if it will ever stop raining on the weekends and that will make it feel a little more like summer. I am rambling at this point so I'm going to stop typing!
