What's been going on lately?

Our out-to-eat supper club from our Sunday school class met at Pizzeria G.M. last Monday night. I had a wonderful Moscow Mule! I ordered the shaved brussel sprout salad and I've ordered it every time I've eaten there except once!! It is sooooo good. It has goat cheese, craisins, fresh pears and a very light dressing. I added grilled shrimp.

Our oldest granddaughter had some Gran and Pops time. Her parents went to Las Vegas for a vacation and Mark was there to greet her when the school bus arrived. They played a while and then came to our house where we took a golf cart ride around the neighborhood to admire the Halloween decorations. I had sinus surgery the day before and the pollen count has still been high here so I had to wear a mask.

They got out to look at this house. He pays someone to come and do his yard every year and it is unbelievable.

This house has octupus tentacles and giant skellies and giant dog skellies.

She is 8 going on 16.

We brought two Bermuda prints home from Mark's mom's house to have re-matted and re-framed for our bedroom.

I couldn't find a single mat that blended with the pictures so I used the powder room wall paint and painted the old mats. I dried them with the hairdryer so they wouldn't curl up from the moisture. The photos have loaded out of order so you will see the finished product in a minute! So irritating.

I made two pecan pies - one went into our freezer for Thanksgiving and the other went to our next door neighbor who had a hip replacement. She froze hers and will take to her son's house for Thanksgiving. I also made lots of cornbread for my Thanksgiving dressing.

Here is our house - photo courtesy of Robert Williams in our neighborhood. Red neck Rapunzel is in her tower - a camp chair mounted up high. Flynn Rider is to the left and Mother Gothel is to the right.

This past Tuesday we had our Halloween Party with the young adults. They were clever with their costumes. One of them dressed up as one of the other participants! It was cute!

Finally, here are the finished prints. Mark did an excellent job of hanging them. The hangers were weird and there was a sticker on the back that said, "do not hang with wire."

My photos are crooked -- the prints are not!

This is the powder room that is right outside our bedroom. It is the only room in our house that is painted a different color. The green mats tie the two rooms together.

Our daughter sent  a link to me last week - they had photos taken of the girls -- five years old and 7 months old.

Oh my goodness -- isn't this one sweet???

Our first trick-or-treaters arrived at 5:10 p.m. so I moved the box of candy outside and set up camp. It was very warm this year. We almost froze last year, but this year I wore a skort and a short sleeve shirt!

We had quite a few early trick-or-treaters.

This was so cute. The mom was the circus ringmaster and the wagon had been turned into a circus wagon and the kids were in the wagon.

Captain Hook's picture is blurry but it was a good dad costume!!

I love the inflatable dinosaur costumes. They always make me laugh. Hannah has been my Halloween helper for a lot of years! She always comes dressed as a princess so the little girls love her. She is a Spanish teacher so she is able to talk to many of the children and families. You can see her hand giving candy to the dinosaur.

I told this little boy that if he actually played his guitar for us, we would give him extra candy. He did and we did!

This group may have been my favorite group costume. I love Sully so much!!

Our kids sent us photos of our granddaughters. Our son's daughter was a butterfly. She is the oldest of our three granddaughters and she is 8 (going on 16).

Our middle granddaughter is 5 and her mommy sent this photo of her with her friend. She was big enough to have fun this year! The baby didn't trick or treat.

Here is a photo of our son, daughter-in-law, and oldest granddaughter.

On this past Friday, I had lunch with my three close friends - our monthly lunch at Ashley Mac's. We talked and talked and talked. I left the restaurant and headed downtown. I needed a copy of my daddy's will -- he died when I was about 25 years old. I had called last week and the lady had already made a copy and I just had to drive downtown (which I rarely do anymore), find a parking place, walk a couple of blocks to Probate Court, pay $5, and reverse the process. Since I don't go downtown often, I had forgotten how many homeless folks hang out around the courthouse. I worked downtown for many years.

I left the courthouse and plugged in the next address which was the Jefferson County Health Department because I needed a copy of my daddy's death certificate.

I found the building and found a decent parking place quickly. I had to wait for a few minutes and while I was waiting, I remembered that I forgot to feed the parking meter. I was lucky - no ticket!!

Mark was at the farm so I did all sorts of things.

On Saturday, I went to Walgreen's to get a new passport photo. It is time to renew! I bought more groceries because we are going to have birthday celebration here in a week or so.

We went to dinner with friends on Saturday night - casual!

I worked on Sunday morning and we ate lunch with family.

And now . . we are all caught up!

What about the time change? Like it or not?

  1. Waking up at 3:45 am wasn't fun so I'll say nyet on the time change! :) Wow, look at you and all your fun activities. You must be waaayy younger than me. Those Halloween trick or treaters costumes were amazing. The house you showed all decked out is something, too! Wow. I like that idea of meeting at a restaurant with a small group. That wouldn't work here because we have so few restaurants. I still like the idea. Putting my seat belt on for this week and what it holds! Take care...

  2. What sweet pictures of your grands! Wow, the Halloween decorations are so much fun. It's pretty low key here on the day, but we were traveling so missed it all anyway. Have a good week! I'm guessing it's gonna be a doozy : )
