I thought I would give y'all (and myself) a break from my lengthy travel log! I'm joining up with the other thieves to answer the questions that Bev stole from someone!!
Local events, parades or festivals – either in your hometown or state -- I've never been but there is a peanut festival in one part of Alabama and there is a Rattlesnake Rodeo in another part of the state. There is a Boll Weevil festival in still another town! I kid you not. You can't make up these things!! I've never been to any of those but since they are in my state, I probably should check out two of these (not the rattlesnake one!!).
Life update – what’s happened recently, moving house, family wedding, vacation, new pet, visited with a friend, and so on. Our niece and one of our nephews got engaged this summer (of course -- not to each other!!). Our niece is getting married in June and our nephew is getting married in May so we will have a fun 2025. Another relative got married in September and we went to that wedding. We just returned from a 12 day trip to Egypt, Turkey, and Greece (my travel log I mentioned earlier). We have a big family gathering next weekend at my sister-in-law's house and our kids will be in town.
Do you have any family traditions this month? We will celebrate Thanksgiving. Our son has invited us to go with them to the Christmas Tree farm on the day after Thanksgiving. That is one of their traditions and they are sharing with us! We will celebrate birthdays - son, daughter, and daughter-in-law.
The holidays are about two months away, Do you begin shopping or creating now or wait until December? A few years ago, our kids voted to not exchange gifts at Christmas. We will definitely buy for our granddaughters. I ordered something for the out-of-town granddaughters yesterday!
What is your favorite November memory? I love Thanksgiving so you could pick almost any year and I would have a great Thanksgiving memory!!
Now that the weather is getting cooler do you prefer? Staying indoors or going outdoors? What do you do? It has still been really warm here. I'm writing on Saturday and I have on shorts and a t-shirt. When it gets a little coolor, I do enjoy being outside more than during the summer.
Describe your favorite local restaurant: I love Hot and Hot and I love Blueprint on 3rd - they both have great menus. I also enjoy the Front Porch - it is more casual than either of the other two. I also love Casual Pint (which is local as in "just a mile or so away," but not local).
Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving? Our Thanksgiving may look a little different this year. We may be a small group. I'll let y'all know later!
If you could take any class, what would you select? I'm taking American History right now because I have to have it to graduate in May. I took an Old Testament class back in 2022/23 as an elective. I wish I could have taken the New Testament, too. I think I would enjoy a class that encompassed something creative - sewing, painting, photography. I've taken short classes in all of those.
To celebrate November would you rather enjoy pumpkin pie or sweet potato? One of my sisters-in-law makes a wonderful sweet potato casserole that might as well be pie!!
How do you handle setbacks and failures? I cry and moan a little (sometimes more than a little) and then I get up and dust myself off and keep on going.
If everything in your house had to be one color, which color would you choose? All of our walls, except for the powder room, are a neutral. The color is Agreeable Gray and it is a very warm color. I guess I would go with that neutral color. I think any other color would be too stimulating if every single thing - rugs, furniture, walls were all one non-neutral color -- like red. I can't imagine. All one color would be boring, too. I just googled totally red room and this photo is from Architectural Digest. I actually like this BUT the books aren't all red and they break up the color scheme. The rug helps, too.
Who or what would you haunt if you were a ghost? Good question! If I were to die before our granddaughters grow up, it would be nice to have a peek every once in a while but I wouldn't want to frighten them.
Have you ever worn clothing with the labels still attached? One time I wore a knit shirt from costco and I had removed the main tag but the clear sticky size tag was still on the shirt! haha!
What's something weird that you recommend everyone try at least once? My sister and I were talking about a sandwich the other day. Our mom made it for us when we were growing up. Use white sandwich bread with a thin layer of mayo on each side. Place one ring of pineapple (back then you could only buy canned in Alabama) and one slice American cheese on the bread. Close up and eat. We loved it when we were kids. I haven't eaten onc in at least 40 years.
Pineapple sandwich! I'm having a bit of difficulty imaging how that would taste.
ReplyDeleteI need to buy the pineapple this weekend and try it as an adult!
DeleteI've had tomato and mayo sandwiches but never pineapple, cheese, and mayo. Not sure about that!! Have a good week ahead and welcome home!!
ReplyDeleteIt was good as a kid. I need to buy some pineapple and try it as an adult!!
DeleteA pineapple sandwich. I think you should try one now and see how it tastes! Congrats on the traveling and such. Life experiences cannot be replaced.
ReplyDeleteI think you are correct. I need to try one soon!
