I'm joining up with Joyce and the gang as we answer this week's questions. This week's questions are truly a hodgpodge!
1. What's something you're curious about right now? I'm writing this in the wee hours of Monday morning and I'm curious if it is going to rain today. We have had so much rain - SO MUCH RAIN! I need some sunshine.
2. If you could plan the perfect girl's weekend getaway, where would you go and what would be on the agenda? Do you have anything like this on your calendar in the next few months? As a "grown-up," I've never been on a true girl's weekend getaway. When a church friend learned this about me, she offered to set one up . . .but I keep forgetting about it so I do not have anything set up. Also, what if we planned it and no one wanted to go? How horrible! In my mind, a girl's weekend getaway would be spent on the beach BUT so many of us, including me, have had various skin cancers that we probably shouldn't just sit on the beach for an entire weekend. I've never been to New York City so that would be a great girl's weekend. I would like to stay in a nice hotel right in the middle of things. I would like to see at least one Broadway show. I would like to visit FAO Schwarz. Should we have Breakfast at Tiffany's? I would like to walk through Central Park and maybe have afternoon tea.
3. What's the most unique item in your refrigerator right now? I don't think I have anything truly unique in our fridge. How about my allergy vials? I have to store them in the fridge. I also have a GINORMOUS pan of spaghetti - 5 pounds ground beef, 1 pound hot breakfast sausage, 2 pounds spaghetti noodles, plus a giant vat of sauce. The pan is a full size steam table plan and I had a tough time lifting it to get it in the fridge. (By the time you read this, the young adults will hopefully have eaten most of the spaghetti.) I use this recipe with my own modifications (I quadruple the recipe and use extra meat including some hot breakfast sausage. I do not quadruple the garlic and spices - I double those. I use whole wheat noodles.)
4. In this season of your life, what do you find most challenging? Losing weight! I lost almost 70 pounds back in 2017 and 2018. Since the fall of 2022, I've gained over 20 back and when you are 5' 5" tall, 20 pounds really shows. I can't get it off!!! I ride the stationary bike everyday. I get a lot of steps in each day. I try to make healthy food choices. It is so annoying!
5. Do you collect anything? If so why that? Do dust bunnies count? haha! Ruby Red Roomba does help me with those dust bunnies. My husband would say that I collect books, which isn't true.
6. Insert your own random thought here. I have about two more weeks before school starts back. I'm taking two mini terms this summer. I think it will be a heavy load, but at the end of July, I will have 6 hours toward the 60 needed for my BA. I'm hoping this old brain will be able to soak it all up!!
Good morning! I'm stopping by from The Hodgepodge. That giant pan of spaghetti sounds so good to me right now; I haven't had any of that in ages, but I love that you're feeding a big crowd of younger people. That sounds like a fun night at home! I have four grown sons, and I loved feeding them and their friends over the years; my motto was full house equals a full heart. I hope you have a great Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteWe host this group of young adults every Tuesday night. They keep us young!! I love having a crowd around the table.
DeleteA girls trip to NYC sounds so fun! That is my favorite city to visit! I am with you on the 20lbs. It is hard. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteI love two pounds and gain 2 1/4 and then vice versa. So frustrating.
DeleteI am with you on the weight gain; currently going through perimenopause and it is noticeable. I was down to 120 from almost 160 during the height of early Covid, but now I have gained about 15 back and I do not like it! I think that's my body's natural weight but I wish I could lose some more.
ReplyDeleteI always say that I'm either actively losing weight or gaining it. That isn't quite true . . .but it feels like it sometimes.
DeleteWeight gain/loss is such a challenge at a certain age. I get it. A girls trip to NYC sounds like fun-count me in : ) We lived outside the city twice so I've spent a lot of time there but still love the energy and the food and the sites. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI would love to get together with other bloggers in New York City! You could be our tour guide!
DeleteWe have not had any rain!! Send it our way. We have been under a red flag warning for fire hazards.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the fire warnings. We had a ridiculous amount of rain over the last two weekends.
DeleteUgh on the weight ups and downs... the ups are so easy and the downs are so hard. I hear ya! I love how you feed those young adults!! What a blessing for them.
ReplyDeleteYes - why is that true? Ups are easy and downs are ridiculously hard!! Those young adults keep us young. We learn so much from them!
DeleteI’d love to go to New York. I want to see the Holocaust Museum and the 911 Memorial.
ReplyDeleteI've been to the kid's holocaust museum in DC and I've been to the Holocaust museum in Israel. Powerful.
DeleteYour girls' weekend in NYC sounds like fun, but I would be worn out before it got started!! Big cities just don't do it for me anymore. I lived 12 years in the metro DC area and escaped to Florida in 1989. Done with all of those people and all of that traffic. Have fun while you can!!
ReplyDeleteIt does sound fun but I don't know if it will every happen :-)
DeleteNew York City ... yessss! May I add, a carriage ride through Central Park under the stars.
ReplyDeleteIf I ever make it to NYC -- yes, I would love a carriage ride!
DeleteI have quite the collection of dust bunnies, too. That made me laugh. I can't seem to lose weight these days, either. We exercise, get steps, try to eat fairly well but I think it is just harder in this season of life.
ReplyDeleteHave a tab open to check out that spaghetti recipe. I am supposed to make spaghetti for my sister, brother and their spouses in Colorado in a couple of weeks. Thank you for sharing.
Good for you on the weight loss! I've been on a weight loss journey as well since 2022. It will be a life long journey to keep it off once I get to my goal weight.
ReplyDeleteDust bunnies made me laugh out loud. Love it!
Do you live in Alabama too?
