Bill

On March 4, 2025, Bill died and passed from this world into the next. He died exactly one month after his wife died on February 4. Bill and Rebecca were a unique couple. They married each other 28 years ago. Rebecca had served as a missionary in Liberia and neither of them had been married before. We found out at Rebecca's funeral service that they had actually talked about going to the mission field together after they got married, but Bill was diagnosed with Parkinson's six months after they married. They never had any children but loved all of their nieces and nephews, including their great nieces (our granddaughters).

Bill took our son and Susie's three sons camping and we still tell the stories from those trips. Susie went with them one time and she was pregnant and I think the trip just about killed her. The trip with the most stories involved Mark having to drive in the middle of the night to meet them because Bill's vehicle had broken down and those little boys were all so tired and so happy to see Mark!

When Mark and I were newlyweds, Bill restored a Model T Ford and I remember he took me for a short ride in it! He was an engineer by degree and was meticulous with his work. He loved to stay up half of the night and sleep well into the day and he was always late. Our family ate Sunday lunch together every week and we ate at 12:30. Bill and Rebecca were late for most events -- I would say 98% (made up number) of the time, they showed up late!! We learned to work around it.

Here we are on Christmas morning a couple of years ago - Bill is in the back right corner and Rebecca is standing in front of him.

This is an older picture of them and Rebecca is laughing at something he said.

I wrote about this ice cream in an old blog post -- He loved homemade ice cream and was able to put that giant spoon - the whole thing in his mouth. Last summer when he was so sick, Mark made often homemade ice cream for Bill -- this is the cooked custard kind of ice cream.

The above picture was taken a few years ago. His siblings went together and purchased the recumbent bike for him and he loved riding it. I love that picture of him -- it is a photo of victory!! For quite a few years, Bill was able to go to the Lakeshore Foundation and he kept himself as mobile as possible through lots of exercise.

I love this photo - three brothers at the beach -- George is on the left and Mark is in the middle and Bill is on the right.

Bill and Rebecca will be missed.
