Merry Christmas Hodgepodge

1. What's one thing you want to get done before the calendar flips to a new year? I pulled my back “out of whack” about ten days ago and I’ve started PT. I would love to get my back in working order. It is slowing me down!! I know that is a weird answer . . .

2. What's something that brought a smile to your face this year? Our granddaughters!!

3. What do you like on a cracker? Do you have a favorite cracker variety? I love crackers. I really enjoy cheese and crackers. Mark and I both love Cheez its. I also love mini saltines. I really love the Fig & Black Sesame Artisanal Crisps from Aldi. They may be my all-time favorite. I love to put them on a charcuterie board, but I don’t actually put cheese ON those crackers. They are good all by themselves!!

4. Do you have plans for ringing in the new year in a fun or special way? Are you typically awake at midnight on the last day of the year? At this point, we do not have any plans. I guess we should be thinking about it!! We rarely make it until midnight.

5. What are three words that describe your 2024? Joy, grief, and hard . . .even when life is hard and we are grieving, there is still joy.

6. Insert your own random thought here. Here is our Christmas card – Merry Christmas from our home to yours!!

  1. I think most years we feel a wide range and mix of emotions. Some years are particularly hard and I know the losses you've had this year have been difficult. I hope you enjoy time with family this Christmas and definitely find relief for your back. That's so miserable. Your card is pretty! Merry Christmas!

  2. I hope that PT helps your back. Back pain is the worst! I don't think I have ever seen that variety of cracker at the Aldi closest to me but I will look for it. It looks like something I would like. Your card looks great! Merry Christmas!

  3. I hope your back will be feeling good by the time the calendar flips!

I have never tried the Fig & Black Sesame Artisanal Crisps. I'll have to see if I can find some next time I go on my weekly Aldi trip.

    Blessings~

  6. My mom has scoliosis and she's been having back issues too; recently got an MRI and they basically said her lower discs are shot! I think she's starting PT soon as well. Hope it works for you!

  7. Love your Christmas card. So sorry about your back. Hope it calms down soon. My lower back is trying to go out on me. Grief and Joy always seem to go together. A very Merry Christmas to you and yours.

    1. One of our pastors always says something about grief is the price we pay for loving someone (I butchered that -- he says it much better!). I definitely thing grief/love/joy all go together.

  10. While we may believe we’ve lost all joy in grief, we really don’t. It’s always there, bringing us back. I hope 2025 will be a blessing to you and your loved ones.
