Welcome to Sunday Stealing. Here we will steal all types of
questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we
will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. Cheers
to all of us thieves!
This week, we're stealing from Jess Riley Writes. She puts a unique
spin on the "desert island" concept by allowing us three choices in
three categories.
The Desert Island Meme
You're stranded alone on a desert island ...
1) Which three BOOKS could you read over and over again? I'm not a fan of reading books over and over again. I would need to take my Bible - I could read it over and over again. There have been a couple of reallly good books I've read over the years - American Dirt and The Nightingale. I definitely wouldn't take mysteries, even though they are my favorite. When you've read it once . . .you know "who done it." (yes, I know that is not correct grammatically, but it is an old saying)
2) Which three MOVIES could you watch over and over again? I love Pretty Woman and have watched it a lot of times. Maybe The Lion King or the Wizard of Oz?? I need a "feel good" movie to take - what would you recommend?
3) Which three SONGS could you listen to over and over
again? I am not good at this game. I think the three songs might need to be either hymns or children's songs or folk songs. "Amazing Grace" is always a good one. I might have to choose "Sweet Home Alabama"! The first song that popped into my head was "This Land is Your Land."
I am not good at playing "favorites" games -- It is rare that I can name something that is truly a favorite. Even with three choices, I had a super hard time.
Thank you for playing! Please come back next week.

OOH I forgot about hymns!! i don't think I could choose just 3. I love so very many.
ReplyDeleteThose are good movies you listed but i def couldn't watch Lion King over and over. I enjoyed it when the girls were little. I wrote more classic ones that i truly have watched over and over.
I enjoyed your answers!
We watched The Lion King so many times when our kids were little that we could quote all of the parts! haha!
DeleteI don't think I would have been good at this either, but it was still fun reading your answers. Have a great Sunday!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Have a great day!!
DeleteI just watched The Wizard of Oz again on TCM Friday night. Ben Mankiewicz introduced it by saying that, according to the Library of Congress, it's the most viewed movie of all time. That made me happy. I work to steal different kinds of questions each week. Hopefully next week's will be a better fit for you.
ReplyDeletePlease know that was NOT a criticism of you. I so appreciate the questions/prompts each week. For some reason, I'm just horrible at favorites!! Thank you!!
DeleteI had a Terrible time narrowing the songs.
ReplyDeleteAh, the Wizard of Oz I DID see in the cinema for the 1st time this decade! Recommended. https://www.rogerogreen.com/2022/06/10/judy-garland-would-have-been-100/
You love music so much that I can imagine you had a really tough time narrowing it to three!!
DeleteLoved your comment on my blog post from today (sunday). HEre is how I responded but thought you might not see it so will copy and paste it here:
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful!! A dear friend of mine from childhood is an ordained UM pastor and she used to head up the Lake Huron Retreat Center in Michigan. My husband and I visited there just before she retired and we LOVED it. She just retired 2 years ago.
How awesome!! I didn't grow up in the UMC -- if I had, I think I would be a pastor today. God is using me anyway :-) I've been a United Methodist for 44 years!
DeleteSweet Home Alabama! I'd have never guessed that as one of your choices.
ReplyDeleteWhen you live in Alabama, you know the words to the song! That is not my normal genre of music, you are correct! We do love to be in another state or another country and all of a sudden, the band cranks up into that song!
