Help! Please help!

Hey y'all! I need some help, please. It will only take a moment or two or three! I have an assignment due this week where I am supposed to interview people and then I have to write another paper. Of the 14 of us that will be together on Thanksgiving Day, only four of us are "seasoned" adults - the other 10 are from ages 9 1/2 to 40 (just barely 40 - turned 40 this month). I will interview a few of them using these same questions, but I would love to hear from a few of you -- at least three or four (please!). I know you are busy, but if you could squeeze out a few minutes today or tomorrow to answer these questions, it would be SO helpful! I might cry if no one answers (no guilt haha!).

Here are the questions - you can pretend I'm asking you face to face!! You are to answer these questions from your perspective. There are no right or wrong answers. The answers don't have to be long - a sentence or two at most.

  1. What is your definition of "The Good Life?"
  2. How do you live a life of meaning and purpose?
  3. What does the word, "Vocation," mean to you?
  4. If you could do it all over again, would you have done anything differently in your life?
  5. What is one piece of advice you would give your younger self?
Thank you in advance!!

  1. 1. I used to think the good life was some glamorous filled life where you could afford everything you wanted. My how age changes that perspective. Now a good life is being comfortable financially ( not rich, just comfortable) and haveing good relationships with friends and family.
    2. For me, volunteering at a facility for special needs adults is what I do for purpose. Volunteering other places is also for purpose, but the first fills my heart each time I go.
    3. To me vocation is what you do for work, whether you are the CEO of a Fortune Five Hundred business or a stay at home parent. Avocation is doing what you love and brings happiness. It is wonderful when the two are the same.
    4. This is a trick question. If I did things differently it would change my current life in ways I cannot even imagine, so I would have to answer no. It would have been nice not to make some of the bonehead mistakes I made, but I am the sum of everything I ever did, thought, tried, loved, etc.
    5. Perfection is unattainable, and don't be afraid to try new things because you might not do them perfectly.

  2. Here are my answers, quickly without too much thought: 1. Shelter, food, transportation, a livelihood, good friends, family to love and be loved, and a meaningful faith community... not necessarily in that order. 2. Be kind. 3. Your vocation is what you were called to do in life (if you paid attention to your calling). 4. No. I learned from all the mistakes. God is in control. 5. Pay closer attention to your instincts.

  3. I'm 79. Married over 50 years. Mother of six and grandmother of 12.
What is your definition of "The Good Life?"  Health, family, safe place to live, enough food, enough income to pay expenses and save and share. How do you live a life of meaning and purpose? Helping family members in whatever ways I am able. Supporting the local food pantry. Researching and writing about and sharing family history. What does the word, "Vocation," mean to you? Vocation means a life work you feel called to do.If you could do it all over again, would you have done anything differently in your life? I would spend more time talking to my grandparents, parents and aunts and uncles about their lives. And I wouldn't have gotten all those goats! There are other things I'd do, but most of them would probably have changed my whole life path. Take care of my achilles tendonitis before it became chronic. Don't rince my teeth with vinegar! What is one piece of advice you would give your younger self? Don't worry so much. Relax. Don't be afraid to do things in my youth to avoid arguing with my parents.
