Wednesday Hodgepodge

I have lots of blogging to do this week because . . . .we've been to Ireland! I can't wait to share photos and stories. Coming Soon!!

In the meantime, thanks so much to Joyce for writing the questions each week for Wednesday Hodgepodge. Feel free to copy and paste the questions into your own blog and link up here or you may answer the questions in the comments!!

From this Side of the Pond

1. Do you (or did you used to) watch talk shows? Which are or were your favorite?  I don't think I've ever been a big talk show watcher. Years ago, I would watch the Today show while I was getting ready for work but that is more of a news show with extra talking, isn't it? I actually don't watch a lot of TV.

2. Would you describe yourself as resilient? If so what do you think makes you that way? If you answered no explain why? I guess I'm resilient. I've been through some crazy things in my life and I'm still upright! What makes me resilient? Well . . .sometimes you either bend or you break and I guess I prefer bending.

3. What parts of life have surprised you the most? Explain. My mom died when I was 14 and my dad died when I was 24/25 so I've never had a "roadmap" of how to parent adult children. Sometimes things surprise me. I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I like my kids as adults. They, and their spouses, are great people!!

4. Why do you live where you live? Mark and I grew up in this area of the state and his long time career was here. Mark did live in another part of the state for a few years after he graduated from college. As a matter of fact, he was living in another town when I met him.

5. A memory from this week that made you smile? I just keep remembering all of the things we saw and did while in Ireland. We weren't even home yet at this time last week.

6. Insert your own random thought here. Jet lag is real! I'm trying not to panic at ALL of the things I need to do at work and home. I'm going to keep reminding myself -- the trip was worth it! Also, I'm writing this post VERY EARLY in the morning without being fully caffeinated. I hope it makes sense :-)

  1. I think to survive the ups and downs, the unexpected, and unwanted things of life and still stand, definitely calls for resilience. Surviving jet lag and an early morning definitely qualify. Have a great day.

  2. I don't watch a lot of TV either and I am glad I went in that direction. It felt like a waste of time.

    1. Yes, we got rid of cable this year. My husband loves TV much more than I do but we have found there is plenty to watch on Hulu and Amazon Prime.

  3. Love that phrase, I'd rather bend than break! Tom keeps the TV on practically 24/7 -- I suspect more for background noise; to keep his mind from going places it shouldn't. I, on the other hand, basically use it to tell me what day of the week this is. (LOL) I can't wait to hear more about Ireland!

    1. My sister lives alone and has her TV on a lot and I think it is for the background noise like Tom. I've started writing the first Ireland post!

    1. My husband was beginning to think that if we didn't go soon, we might never make it either. I think he wants to cram as many trips as possible into the next few years. My problem is I'm still working full time :-) and actually love my job.

  6. I'm so glad you were able to travel and have a wonderful trip. It will be fun to read your recount. It's always hard to dive back in to normal life after a big trip like that so give yourself some grace. Eventually you'll be caught up.

  7. Jet lag is totally real! Lol. I've discovered that no matter where I go, the "going to" isn't too bad, but the "coming home" is a killer.
