Paradise

Then God said, “Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” And that is what happened.     God  called the dry ground “land” and the waters “seas.” And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:9-10

There is just something about the sound of waves rolling in that is calming to my soul.  It almost feels as if when each wave rolls in, I can throw my concerns into the water and they all wash away. I'm so glad that God created the oceans and seas and called them good.

I always seem to encounter Jesus when I'm near the water.  The Celtics have talked for many many years about thin places - those places where the "veil" is so thin between this world and the next world ... Or between this world and the spiritual world.  I think being near a massive blue green body of water bordered by sugar white sand beaches and blue sky is a thin place for me. God's majesty is awe inspiring and I believe HE is so close I can almost touch him.

Are there places you go where you experience the presence of the living Christ more? Have you experienced a thin place?

  1. Lisa, I so agree... there is just something about the beach that feels so close to heaven. For me, I think it's the position of looking out into the ocean, into the great expanse, and seeing no end. There I am faced with the reality of how great God is, and how small we are... and even in our insignificance, He calls us His Treasured Possession.
