C is for Comfortable Shoes

#AtoZChallenge 2026 letter C

Continuing with the April A to Z Challenge - Day 3!
The Things that Make Life Better

C is for Comfortable Shoes

The older I get, the more I love comfortable shoes. I LOVE the way stiletto heels look on others, but that day has long passed. These days, I wear tennis shoes - some more stylish than others; Birkenstocks - in various colors; a couple of pair of booties, and a few pairs of dressier sandals. My feet are horrible and comfortable shoes are definitely a thing that make my life better.

These boots are some of my fave! They look like baby deerskin!

Here is a close up from Ebay:

I have several pair of tennis shoes - or you might call them sneakers. My newest ones are from Lifestride.

I also have this style, but have almost worn them too many times.

Regarding Birkenstocks - I have these in black, gold (2 pair), and bronze. I bought the shiny gold and the bronze (or not shiny gold) in Austria or Germany back in 2022. I bought a pair of black ones from our neighborhood trading site. It was someone on my street and they had never really worn them after they brought them home! I do NOT normally buy used shoes in any form or fashion, but these were really new. You can tell the ones below are new -- there are no toe indentations haha! I know these don't match - it was the picture I sent our daughter after I purchased them.

The shoes below are antelope sandals and I love them! I had a different pair of gold ones that I wore out. Those tend to be my dressiest shoes other than boots.

Here is a photo of me wearing the antelopes. We were at an outdoor wedding and reception.

I don't know about you . . .but comfortable shoes make my day a little bit better. I should probably write a post about Mark's comfortable shoes! I also know that an uncomfortable pair of shoes can make me totally miserable! haha!

What are your most comfortable, but fashionable, shoes?

  1. These shoes are all so cute! Yes, to comfortable shoes. I tend to roll my ankles a lot, so I have to be careful I don't fall.

    1. I've heard that wedges can be really bad for someone who rolls their ankles! Be careful!

  2. I still love to wear high heels but have to be careful now because of my ankle. I need some sandals for summer and flip flops too. I try to buy with an arch and they're not as easy to find. Someone told me yesterday their dr. told them to get the Brooks Ghost tennis shoe and they said it is the most comfortable they've owned. Happy Easter!

    1. I should check out the Brooks Ghost tennis shoes! I need some new Vionic flip flops. I haven't worn high heels in many years. I think they are so beautiful and make my legs look great (haha!), but not happening!

  3. Right on! I have dumped all my heels over two inches. My feet and back just said nope when I turned 60. I love your cute boots! I have similar ones, but I mostly wear Easy Spirit walking shoes. So comfy!

    1. I don't even own any two inch heels anymore. They kill my back, too!

  4. My favorite footwear is my bare feet. LOL. I have sneakers I wear when I have to wear shoes. I should try some of those barefoot shoes.

  5. Comfortable shoes are a definite must for me. No heels in my closet anymore. I have BIG feet (size 12) and can't just go buy shoes in stores. No one carries women's size 12. My grandpa told me once, when I was complaining about my big feet, that "You can't build a castle on a foundation only fit for a chicken coop!" I always remember that when I have trouble finding shoes!! LOL

  6. I'm always in comfortable shoes although I do have a couple of dressier pairs for going out. I don't like flip flops or anything else with "posts". My toes object lol!

  7. Nice selection of comfy shoes and some quite pretty (the ones in the last pic are my faves.) I have to have quality support in my shoes and they have to hold my orthotics. My feet are no good anymore.

    1. The older I get, the worse my feet are. I guess if you have to have orthotics, you can't wear sandals? or can you?

  8. SO true that comfortable shoes are necessary for a good life! I have hard-to-fit feet and finding comfy shoes has been a life-long quest.

    1. When I was younger, I didn't have any shoe issues . . .but at my age . . .I do and it is so annoying.
